Today I’m going to be walking you through what makes our Artist Course different from other professional hair and make-up courses in Singapore. Also, the reason behind why I created this course and how I designed it to be perfect for you no matter what stage you’re at in your artist journey.

Why did you create the Artist Course?
I will always remember my first make-up course. I took it in London at the London School of Beauty & Make-up). It was a large class of twenty people and although I had a lot of fun, there were a few key issues that I wish I had solved in my first foundational course.
- Inflexible Schedule: The schedules were entirely fixed and we had to dedicate 9-5pm everyday. If we missed a lesson, we had to skip the lesson entirely or pay extra to join another class.
- No Live Models Provided: We had to use our classmates as our models which wasted a lot of learning time because after I did the make-up on my classmate, I had to be her model for the next 2-3 hours. In every class, I had to take off my make-up, have make-up put on and then wash it off. I found it troublesome and a huge time waster. The other alternative was to find a model for every class – but that was impossible as most people would be working or too tired to come after work.
- Outdated and Impractical: I was learning a lot of information that was outdated and impractical to my bridal make-up career. For example, face painting and special effects is something I haven’t yet used in my personal experiences working.
- Brands from the Past: I was using brands that were not on trend. The beauty space is fast evolving and although mainstream brands like M.A.C will always be around – it’s good to have a good verse of other more niche brands that are even trendier like Too Faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Charlotte Tillbury, Morphe and even Colourpop.
- Lacklustre Instructors: The instructors were hit and miss. Some really cared about us and I enjoyed their class. Others, blamed us for not being good enough and some of my classmates were left in tears due to a toxic environment in some classes. I remember I couldn’t even curl hair when I graduated and that was in part due to the lacklustre effort from the hair instructor.
- Class Size: The class size runs too big. Our class size was 20 pax to one instructor, even 5 or 6 pax to one instructor is a lot for a beginner. They wouldn’t be able to have fulfilling learning experience and without the attention they need to have their mistakes corrected on the spot.
Fast forward many years, I took on more and more advanced courses in hair and make-up skills and I became not only a make-up artist but a beauty educator. I opened up Bloom by Roseanne – a studio which taught personal make-up lessons and ran it for the last 8 years until presently still. Through this entire time in education, I realised so many things about skin texture, facial features, skin tone, face shapes and eye shapes since I was seeing everyday women come into my studio almost every day.
I wanted to impart this knowledge to others in a professional hair and make-up course. I carefully designed a course structure and system that would guarantee results and would improve on all the points mentioned above and more.
What makes the Artist Course different?
With that being said, I really wanted to revolutionise learning professional hair and make-up. Most schools in Singapore after doing my research are very costly. Furthermore, they encourage you to purchase an entire hair and make-up kit before attending the course which could run in the hundreds. They also run on fixed schedules allowing no flexibility to our busy schedules – and you are required to bring a model to your lesson each class. What if you cannot find somebody in time? What if they pull out last minute and you miss your class that only runs on a fixed schedule. It’s tiring and messy. Most of all, I really wanted a fun and wholesome place to learn – I don’t want to put unnecessary toxic pressure on my students but I hope to encourage them to grow and bring out the best in them.
That’s really what makes our course so different.
The Bloom Pro Professional Artist Hair & Make-up Course in Singapore is 64 Hours, and covers the latest professional bridal hair and make-up techniques. I took what I didn’t like about my foundational course and made it better with:
- A Flexible Schedule: Our schedules aren’t fixed and you can create your own schedule with us – especially for weekday daytime bookings. the sessions run 3 hours at a time which is much more manageable for the students – down from normally a whole day event or 6 hours at a run for other schools.
- All Live Models Provided: All live models for your course are booked for you in advance once you confirm your course with us. All you have to do is show up and get started. We do this so that you don’t have to do make-up on your classmates and they in turn do make-up on you which wastes a lot of time. We also do not require you at all to bring a model or friend to class each time which can be troublesome for those on a busy schedule.
- Updated and Practical: I designed the course to be a bridal and event focused make-up and hair course – since this is the line of work that is easiest to hop into once you graduate. That being said, I will be teaching you the latest in bridal hair and make-up including popular Western, Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese styles.
- Most Up to Date Products: Because of my time in beauty education, we have exclusive partnerships with large cosmetic brands in Singapore such as Sephora, Make-up Forever, CHANEL, Charlotte Tillbury and more. We have the latest up to date and even hot and popular beauty products in our studio ready for your use. We always believe that you need to be updated and on trend, so you should be using these products too.
- Always on Call: I am always on call for you, even after your lesson. I will check up on the students to see if they have any questions and even after they graduate, they still seek feedback from me. I will always be with you during your course and in no way will I let you graduate from my course not knowing how to curl hair!
- One to One or 2 pax Class Size: I designed this to be only a small class experience – either One to One or 2pax to one instructor. You will be able to learn so much more in this environment and I can watch and check your steps every step of the way. This also allows us to manage homework well and learn even more during the classes.
I am really happy to say that so far it’s been an awesome experience teaching the Artist Course to prospective make-up artists. Here are some of our honest reviews:
Reviews of our Artist Course:
“Head trainer Roseanne is one of the most patient mentors. If you’re having troubles getting a hair technique or a make up look right, you can be sure that she will teach you till you get it correctly in the most gentle manner.
One of the best parts about Bloom Pro is that you are not required to bring a friend/model each time you’ve got class. Tbh, I don’t think I’ll have the time to arrange for these given my busy schedule.
It’s also not necessary to purchase any make up products before the course so that’s a plus! It’s all provided for, and you’d be able to try out and play with the different products during class. And can I say that the brands available are really up to date or trend? Thing is, I’ve enquired with various schools before Bloom and realise that some schools use really back dated brands. For a makeup junkie like myself, it kinda put me off a little.
I was really excited when I stepped into Roseanne’s school because I saw brands like Chanel, Too Faced, Clarins, Lancome, Make Up Forever, even Jeffreestar. So rest assured that you’ll be using good stuff in the course of your learning and you’d be able to judge after which products you like/suits you, and build your makeup artist kit from there.
I highly recommend Bloom Pro to those who are inspiring to be a make up artist!” Chloe Poon, Artist Course
“You will never regret taking course at Bloom Pro Academy!
That’s my experience after learning one to one Artist course with Roseanne. I have little experience doing makeup at other people and no experience in hairstyling at all. But now I feel more confident to step my foot in this industry with all the skills that I learned from Roseanne.
She is very attentive and patient in each class to ensure I understand all the steps and techniques in different skin types, skin tones, face structure, and also hair types for each model. She is also able to point out every detail that I need to improve so I can grow more and more. And not to forget, she is lovely and fun person 😊
It’s very great experience for me and thank you for always encourage me to do the best and follow my passion to be Pro Makeup Artist. Wish you all the best Roseanne and Bloom Pro!” Angela, Bloom Pro Artist Course
“Roseanne is Approachable and always ready to answer your queries. She shows Belief in her students and is constantly giving encouragement. She genuinely Cares for her students’ progression in this field with advice even after completion of course. Her eye for Details never fails to amaze, yet making us always feel at Ease with each increasingly complex lesson.
Roseanne is not only Flexible by accommodating to my busy schedule without fuss, but is ever so Generous with her Knowledge sharing. Despite being so experienced in her field, she remains Humble.
Her story and journey to become a full-time MUA give me Inspiration and the exact confidence that I needed to venture into this arena graduation. To Roseanne, teaching is not just a Job. Her dedication to her students is displayed through opportunities to work as her partner.
Magic happens in her class where we transform girls into fairies, and not without Laughter and joy, in her Neat and organized studio. Through her endless Patience and guidance, I Overcame many difficult techniques. Despite all, Roseanne demands a high standard from us all in a Respectful manner, all in the bid to ensure we can deliver Quality service to clients.
Above all, the lessons are well planned and Structured, and classes are Timely and Upbeat. With the huge Variety of makeup collections to practice on, it is definitely Worth every buck.
Xoxo Roseanne! Yes, you are without doubt a Zealous teacher anyone should consider!” – Skye, Bloom Pro Artist Course
