Top 3 Best Foundations for Bridal Make-Up

When you’re first starting your career in make-up, one of the hardest things to start on is your artist kit. This is basically your toolbox of make-up, tools, brushes and hair products that you’ll bring with you on assignments. Foundations and concealers are particularly tricky because the last thing you want to do is bring 12 foundation shades with you to work. Also, when you’re starting out, you may feel lost with all the choices available. We teach professional hair and make-up course in Singapore and here are the top foundations that we recommend our students.

1. Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation

In Singapore, brides prefer natural make-up and they especially do not like the feeling of a heavy foundation. The Clarins Skin Illusion foundation is a fan favourite because it is super lightweight and has medium to full coverage. In fact, the bottle comes with an eyedropper applicator – that’s how thin the foundation is. Unlike other serum formulas, this foundation is also hydrating so it’s great for all skin types.

Shades we use the most in our professional make-up course in Singapore the most: Honey and Ivory that we mix to make most other shades.

2. Pixi H20 Skin Tint

It is always important to have a super lightweight foundation on hand in case your client really isn’t used to the look of make-up. One combination that I’ve been really liking lately is a super thin base like a tinted moisturiser and pairing that with a substantial and full coverage concealer like the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. This combination makes the bride feel like she’s barely wearing make-up while providing the coverage she needs. The Pixi H20 Skin Tint is our favourite tinted moisturiser for this – it is so lightweight that it feels like water, covers light to medium and is hydrating and blends really well.

3. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

The foundation that we love the most for high coverage make-up is the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. It is a full coverage foundation that doesn’t leave any dryness or cakiness and is comfortable to wear. We normally use this foundation for people who enjoy the look of make-up and is more used to more dramatic looks. Blends beautifully on the skin.

Shades we use the most in our professional make-up course in Singapore the most: Almond, Light Beige and Golden Beige

As you can see, one of the largest factors is hydration. When the skin is dry and dehydrated – that’s normally the root cause of any patchiness or cakiness that you see on the skin. We don’t normally recommend matte foundations for work because they’re risky and you end up needing to bring along a natural foundation anyway. At least with a hydrating and natural foundation, you can determine how matte your client would like to be by managing this with the amount of loose setting powder that you use. In that sense, it’s more flexible.
